Mime Combat at the Lonestar Smash

The Lonestar Smash has always been my favorite regional stage combat workshop. Perhaps it's because it was the first one I felt where I felt like I fit in? Or maybe it was the first one I went to that was a little smaller and a little more community oriented. Whatever it was, I was overjoyed to be back! And this time as an associate instructor debuting a new workshop class I engineered called "Combat Mime" (nothing in relation to the book).

I've been dreaming up this class for quite some time and I'm pretty stoked to finally have the opportunity to workshop it! I truly believe the specificity of mime work has so much to offer the world of theatre, particularly other physical disciplines like stage combat. So in this class, we're working on mime techniques and how they can enhance our specificity in moments of violence! I think it went pretty well... and spurred some very interesting discussions afterwards! Which truly is the point, right?

I also had the joy of selling some of my True Edge Art merchandise and artwork... yay sword themed art! (Check out my art page to see more).

I didn't get any photos of my class... or my booth... but here are some fun ones from the workshop including my friend Rowan wearing one of my True Edge Art tanks!
