Fighting Alone Together: Fight Master Magazine and Born with Teeth!

I had written an article about lessons from zoom theatre and digital stage combat work during the pandemic. It was supposed to be in the Fight Master magazine earlier, but it was put on pause until the magazine returned... which it did this summer! And my article was picked back up.... How exciting!!! I had to revamp it quite a lot. The digital world changes quickly and things that were still being discovered in 2020 were old hat. It was good to take some time and reflect upon what happened in the world of stage combat during that time, and how it has shaped our current world.

In the spring, I did a little consulting over zoom for a production of Born with Teeth at Santa Fe Playhouse. We were able to get so much done and finesse some moments of violence with the help of several camera angles, phenomenal actors, and a very intuitive director.

It was nice to have this success story of Born with Teeth to pair with some of the more difficult challenges early on in the pandemic. And not to mention... this amazing photo below was chosen for the cover!!! ah!!!
