I had the great pleasure of serving as fight director with University of California Davis again this year, this time for their main stage production of Mr Burns, A Post Electric Play directed by Mindy Cooper.
A really exciting play to be working in for so many reasons. It is creative, interesting, as well as horrifyingly apropos and hilarious! The three different acts are all exceedingly different and require a strong artistic vision.
The sword fight of the end of Act III turned out lovely. For actors who had never used a sword, they dived right in and worked hard! It was incredible to see their learning and growing process from rehearsal to performance. One of the most exciting parts about college theatre for me is that it isn't about the performance... it is journey these students embark on.
